KWA and Barton Willmore achieve Planning Permission for New Racehorse Training Yard
19/02/2010
Through a partnership between Barton Willmore and KWA, planning permission has been achieved for a new racehorse training yard in Baldock. The new racing yard will comprise stabling for up to 42 horses, paddocks, an all-weather six furlong gallop, an equine pool and other essential equine infrastructure on a rural brownfield site at Baldock Radio Station. The application also includes three new dwellings for the Trainer, Assistant Trainer and Stable Lads.
The successful outcome follows two years of discussion and negotiations with North Hertfordshire District Council and the submission of two applications. As well as providing up to ten new rural jobs, the wider benefits of the scheme include highways improvements to the Baldock Radio Station access on the A505, the upgrading and preserving of approximately 60 ha of valuable chalk grassland and landscaping improvements on a brownfield, scarred landscape.
