Committee Overturn Planning Officer Recommendation and Grants Planning Permission for Conversion of Curtilage Listed Office to Dwelling
06/07/2011
KWA has worked with the applicant to achieved planning permission for the conversion of a curtilage Listed office into a dwelling.
The property has been on the market for almost 18 months with no sale. The client wished to achieve residential use to attract potential purchasers for the site. The KWA designed scheme looked to minimise the physical alterations to the property while achieving the use required. Despite this, the scheme was recommended for refusal by the Planning Officer due to the loss of a small scale employment unit as recommended by the Economic Development Panel and due to the impact on the adjacent Listed Building from domestic paraphernalia associated with the dwelling as recommended by the Conservation Officer.
The application was called to the Development Control Committee by a Local Council Member who felt permission should be granted. At the meeting the Committee Members accepted the applicant’s view that any other use would detrimentally impact on the Listed Building and that the property had been marketed in accordance with local planning policy requirements. As a result planning permission was granted. |
