Our Approach

KWA Architects (Cambridge) Ltd has a reputation for work on equestrian projects of all scales.

The Practice, led by Keith Warth, has a wealth of knowledge of equestrian projects of all types, varying from new build projects on Greenfield sites to conversion/refurbishment works on suitable Listed Buildings.

Our philosophy is to work very closely with clients and to provide them with designs to enable the provision of quality accommodation focussed on the needs of the users, whether humans or horses. In particular, we aim to create conditions that enhance the horse’s health and welfare to allow it to compete at the optimum level.

Research and experience has been gained through collaboration with a variety of equine specialists including equine research vets, stud managers and trainers.

Most new clients come to us through personal recommendation from existing clients which, we believe, acknowledges the efforts we put into making each client's project ‘special’.

Scope

KWA‘s projects vary in size, range and scope from private, recreational facilities to commercial premises, Indoor Schools, Equine Swimming Pools, Equine Solariums, Hydrotherapy Pools, Stocks, Knock Down Rooms, X-ray facilities Covered Rides, Gallops, Horse Exercisers, Lunge Rings, Estate Entrances, Stallion Units, Isolation Units and Foaling Units.

Our current projects include a new racing yard, new private stable developments, a new stud farm as well as extensions to existing equine facilities through a phased development plan.

Whilst a good deal of KWA’s work is for clients linked to the horse racing industry, we also undertake commissions for dressage, show jumping and polo yards as well as smaller projects for our clients’ personal yards. KWA works for leading educational and animal welfare institutions as well as for commercial clients outside the equine industry. Recent projects have included prestigious housing projects, staff and student hostels, a prayer hall, a gym, laundries, high-tech offices, teaching facilities, restaurants, bars, and a wide range of ancillary buildings.

In particular, KWA has vast experience in animal health and welfare buildings as well as educational facilities. Examples of these are available on our ‘Projects’ page.
